As a multidisciplinary student, I have continued to improve my confidence and contribution to the group in this semester. In semester one, I struggled to fully integrate into the course and the group however in semester two, I managed to participate more in group meetings and also in leading a group in one project.  This semester we were lucky to have the opportunity to work in a different variety of projects. I managed to push myself out of the comfort zone and take on new challenges. The main difficulty as an individual is that I still have not been able to fully implement my computing skills into this course. The only project that was related to my field which was the Northumbrian Water project and that involved creating an app and animation. However it would have been great to see more projects that focused solely on technology. The main difficulties that I believed of working as a multidisciplinary innovation professional is that it’s difficult to have everyone working at the same pace. This is difficult because we have to consider that certain individuals work differently than others and also understanding their methods they use to achieve their objectives.

Introduction

In my justified evidence, I have only selected the specific parts of the work that I have done this semester which I felt I have contributed more in. Also in this semester I was able to learn and then use the knowledge strands into the projects that we were given. As a cohort this semester we were able to work better because it certain projects we didn’t have allocated project leader but we were still able to successfully complete the project objectives before the deadline. This shows that everyone had the confidence of each other because we knew that each person were able to complete their task on time.

Each strand in this semester played a key role of my development of myself. In Methods and Communication knowledge strand, it thought me the importance of stakeholder analyse and how stakeholders affect the outcomes of the projects. The science and technology knowledge strand focused on rapid prototyping and programming.  We were also lucky to gain valuable insight from experts such as Tim Brown and Gavin Proctor. In Planning and professionalism, we learnt about the different consultancy methods to use when consulting with our clients, also learning about marketing strategies and then applying them into our projects. For example in the Totem Pole project we had to create new communication technique in order for them to communicate with their customers. In Brenda’s Self and Community knowledge strand, we had the opportunity to learn what kind of leaders are we, learning about how to work with people from other cultures, looking at the differences between leadership and management.
